FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Continued warmth and a few rain chances look to be on the docket this week as Fall colors start to peak across the Great Lakes state. Today, Monday, will be the warmest day of the week with the 70s returning to some southern areas. A cold front will cross over the state overnight into Tuesday which will drop our temperatures slightly with the more pronounced temperature drop coming Wednesday with seasonal temperatures taking place. On the back end of the cold front, a High-pressure system sets up over the international border near Sault Ste. Marie, MI which will keep conditions clear come Thursday aided by seasonal temperatures. However, those conditions will be short lived as an approaching system impacts the state on Friday with windy conditions and the potential for rain across the state. Although rain is needed to help fight drought conditions, rain totals are not expected to be substantial where it falls.
For air quality, there are two weeks left until the official Ozone season ends with Ozone concentrations waning each day as seasonal temperatures slowly continue to drop. PM-2.5 concentrations look to remain Good as well as current wildfire smoke conditions look light. The only increase in PM-2.5 concentrations this week will be during commuting hours with vehicle traffic increasing concentrations slightly into the low-Moderate range for a few hours.
EXTENDED FORECAST:
The aforementioned system on Friday hangs around through the weekend with hit-or-miss rain chances possible across the state. We start the weekend with above average temperatures and end it with temperatures nearing seasonal norms. Air quality looks to remain Good.
