Ozone concentrations are expected to be in the Good (Green AQI) to low-Moderate (Yellow AQI) range

PM-2.5 concentrations are expected to be in the Good (Green AQI) to low-Moderate (Yellow AQI) range.
FORECAST DISCUSSION:
The first full week of September commenced with clear skies yesterday, Monday, with moderate temperatures in the 70s to low-80s. Today, Tuesday, will continue that trend for most of the state, however, northern portions, especially the upper peninsula, will see rain showers throughout the day. This rain will slowly move to southern portions of the state later today and into Wednesday. This is due to a low-pressure system well to our north in Canada but an associated cold front trekking through the Great Lakes, nonetheless. On the backside of the frontal boundary, Thursday, will see high-pressure across the region which will open the skies back up through Saturday, before another system moves through the Great Lakes.
For air quality, southwesterly flow Tuesday and into Wednesday may present Moderate air quality conditions, especially Tuesday for Ozone. However, as rain moves in, Ozone will dissipate back into the Good range. PM-2.5 concentrations may hang around the Moderate range a little longer through Wednesday before a wind shift on Thursday bringing in cleaner air through Friday.
EXTENDED FORECAST:
Although it is not a complete washout, rain looks like it will linger around this weekend as systems move through the region. This will help keep air quality in the Good range.
