FORECAST SUMMARY: Friday, October 9th, 2026, through Monday, October 12th, 2026
Ozone:
Ozone concentrations are expected to be in the Good (Green AQI) range.
PM2.5:
PM2.5 concentrations are expected to be in the Good (Green AQI) range to scattered Moderate (Yellow AQI).
FORECAST DISCUSSION:
High pressure, which has brought us pleasant sunny, dry weather, will push eastward which will provide some warm air advection into Michigan late Friday through Saturday. Along with that warm air advection, there could be enough moisture to bring some light rain Friday evening. The warming trend could boost temperatures between 10 to 15 degrees above normal through the weekend and into Monday. Clear skies at night will lead to chilly mornings although Saturday temperatures could reach the mid to upper 70’s and perhaps even 80 degrees.
The next real chance for any appreciable rain will be from the remnants of Isaias, during Sunday, and that will likely be isolated to the eastern half of the state. Forecast models have been fairly consistent with the track moving through Kentucky as a depression during Sunday. Expect an increase in clouds with showers along and east of the US 127 corridor.
A cold front is on track to swing through the area late Monday into Tuesday. Until then, warm air will continue to dominate the area through Monday with highs continuing in the 70’s.
As for Air Quality, I expect conditions to be as good as the weather, itself. Ozone is essentially a non-issue, this time of year, with the shorter, dry days and cooler nights. The formal ozone season wraps up at the end of October.
Fine particulates should also not pose any major issues, although with the clear nights, the nocturnal inversion may temporarily trap particulates near the surface during the morning hours before the sun breaks it up. The warm air advection could cause some lingering scattered Moderates in the lower portion of the State through Saturday.
As such, I expect ozone to remain the Good range with Fine Particulates also mostly Good with a scattered Moderates.
EXTENDED FORECAST:
Air Quality is expected to remain mostly Good to begin the upcoming work week.
